Amazon product description guidelines
Amazon product descriptions are limited to 2,000 characters, titles to 200 characters, and each bullet point in the key features section to roughly 500 characters. Descriptions must clearly explain the product's benefits and features and stay professional and honest. Amazon prohibits prices, contact details, external links, references to reviews, promotional claims, and HTML or other code in the description.
Character limits
Keep the title within 200 characters, use the bulleted key features for scannable benefits at around 500 characters each, and use the main description, up to 2,000 characters, for a fuller explanation. Prioritize clarity over filling every character.
What you cannot include
Amazon disallows prices, seller contact information, external URLs, references to other websites, promotional language such as sale or free shipping, and references to customer reviews. Descriptions also may not contain HTML, JavaScript, or other code, though line breaks are allowed.
Write to comply and convert
Lead with the benefit, back it with the feature, and describe the product accurately. Amazon expects honest, easy-to-read copy that helps the buyer understand the item. Avoid keyword stuffing, which reads poorly and can breach listing rules.
Structure that works
A short benefit paragraph plus scannable bullets suits how shoppers skim. Cover materials, dimensions, use cases, and what makes the product different, in plain language.
